Time creates. Exploring the complex relationship among humans and their environment while trying to grasp the actuality of personal existence, I attempt to apprehend the human dynamics evolving through time. Shape, action, material and their metamorphic potential define the motifs in which I interpret the world and establish a consciousness about intimate relation with my surroundings. Investigating different methods to register creator’s identity in the work, places occupied by my presence are reduced to elemental forms, incorporating extracted natural elements affected by corporeal attendance.

Landscape constituents are removed from their place, being converted to artefacts that speak of their interrelationship with people, commenting on bodily appearance in space. These fundamental explorations of space, volume and movement become reflections of the way we shape and are shaped by the domain in which we live. Suggestive of the relatedness to human body, structures of being represent the importance of the symbiotic association along our corporeal presence and our habitat, highlighting the indispensable role that surroundings play in everyday life.

Migrating to abstraction through a conveyed physicality, elements assert their own independence, becoming a translation of the world as they connect with earth’s most basic substances. Documenting incidental emergences while encountering rhythmic patterns, the physical manipulation of mass corresponds to the dimensions of my own body, representing ways we relate to the environment we inhabit. Creating a hybrid topography between the natural and the human-made, collected materials are reformed generating visual records of place, signs of how we occupy space and leave our marks behind. Capturing the dynamics of time passing, individual traces are transferred to casted formations and matter is activated by imprinting my actions on it: the tree from my yard, ground marked with my footsteps, soil accumulated from my journeys, steel oxidised with body fluids.

Transferring imprints to the configurations though demarcating and eroding becomes the way of mapping the process, allowing viewers to experience in distinct ways the manipulation of space and time, revealing the synergy among them. Seeing how these components partake in the state of human being and cannot exist independently, a new set of values arises drawing from the emotional connection between place and its occupants. Translating from visual poetry of what surrounds us, this transformation ultimately converts time to a tangible artefact, a discussion about growth, ageing and evolution. Collapsing the world into a composition of form and substance and examining the tension and balance between geometric rigidity and organic fluidity, pieces monumentalise the transient encapsulating the lasting ephemerality. Relating the core and surface of earth with the concept of gravity, while transitioning from the scale of an atom to that of a planet, the individual is set against the world reflecting how we contain everything and form part of everything.
